Hold onto your hats, folks, because it looks like we might have a game-changer on our hands! Speculation is swirling that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is getting ready to throw his hat into the ring as an independent candidate for the 2024 election. And he’s planning on making a big announcement in Philadelphia on October 9. Can you believe it? The birthplace of our nation could be the stage for Kennedy’s grand unveiling of his “path to the White House.”
In a video released on September 29, Kennedy teased his supporters, saying, “I’m not going to tell you right now exactly what that announcement will be.” Talk about suspense! But he did drop a few hints, promising to speak about a “sea change in American politics” and the role that both his followers and his party will play in that change. Sounds intriguing, doesn’t it?
And it seems like Kennedy’s campaign is ready to kick things up a notch. Reports surfaced that they’re planning attack ads against the Democratic National Committee, paving the way for his grand announcement on October 9. According to insider sources, a poll commissioned by the American Values 2024 PAC, which is working to get Kennedy elected, shows that if he runs as an independent or third-party candidate, he could start with a solid 19 percent of the vote. Not too shabby!
But what does all of this mean for the current contenders, President Biden and former President Trump? Well, the same poll shows that Kennedy would be pulling almost equally from both of them, with Biden and Trump each hovering around 37 to 38 percent. Could this mean a three-horse race in 2024? It’s certainly starting to look that way.
Kennedy’s decision to potentially run as an independent or third-party candidate comes after what he deems as multiple roadblocks in the Democrats’ primary elections. He has expressed frustration with the DNC, accusing them of fixing the process to make it almost impossible to have a fair primary. And with the recent controversy over the primary schedule, it’s no wonder Kennedy is “keeping his options open.”
But what do the people think? Well, if you ask Philip Nicosia, a former Trump voter who now supports Kennedy, he’ll tell you that he’s voting for who he believes in, regardless of the potential impact on President Trump. And Lauren Hanley, a registered Republican who also voted for Trump, has shifted her support to Kennedy because she believes he resonates with people tired of fighting and divisiveness.
