Sinister Balloons Raise Beijing-Election Conspiracy Fears!

In a surprising turn of events, military observers in Taiwan have reported the presence of two Chinese balloons, similar to the spy balloons that infiltrated U.S. airspace earlier this year, flying over their territory for the second time in a month. Originating from China, these balloons traversed the Taiwan Strait before heading north. Despite Taiwan’s Defense Ministry labeling them as “weather balloons,” their resemblance to the spy balloons spotted globally cannot be ignored.

China has been deploying these balloons not only over Taiwan but also over Europe, the United States, and South America. Despite China's assertion that the balloons are collecting benign weather data, the consistent nature of their presence and their varied locations strongly suggest a more sinister purpose.

The timing of these balloon sightings is notably suspicious, occurring just ahead of Taiwan’s presidential election scheduled for January 13. William Lai, the front-runner from the Democratic Progressive Party, openly supports Taiwan’s independence from mainland China. China, vehemently opposing any notion of Taiwan’s independence, labels Lai's position as “separatist.”

The United States, having experienced the infiltration of Chinese spy balloons, should treat these incidents seriously. However, the Biden administration's response has been disappointingly lackluster. When the initial Chinese spy balloon was spotted over the United States in February, the administration allowed it to roam freely over U.S. territory, including military sites, before finally shooting it down two days later. It wasn’t until April that NBC News revealed the balloon’s intelligence-gathering capabilities.

This raises significant questions about the Biden administration’s approach to national security. Why did they permit a potential threat to go unchecked? And why did they initially downplay the balloon’s collection capabilities? It is disconcerting to witness the current president seemingly unwilling to take a strong stance against Chinese espionage.

China’s aggressive and intrusive behavior must not go unchallenged. It is time for the international community to unite and stand against these rogue actions. The communist Chinese regime should be held accountable for its disruptive and threatening behavior. Enough is enough.
