The socialist Bernie Sanders has officially decided to drop out of the 2024 presidential race and endorse President Joe Biden, according to an Associated Press interview released on Tuesday. This is a wise decision from Sanders, considering he has already been defeated twice in both the 2016 and 2020 primary races, and he would have had the same result had he continued to run. Sanders admitted to the press that he wants to avoid the possibility of a right-wing demagogue taking over the country, as he believes that Donald Trump would only work to undermine American democracy further.
During his interview with the Associated Press, Sanders revealed how he would devote his energy towards making sure that Biden remains in office, focusing on issues like gun violence, racism, sexism, and homophobia. He also asked fellow progressives to stay out of the race, stating that Joe Biden is going to be the Democratic nominee so he should fight for the working class of the country.
Sanders also sympathized with Biden concerning his reelection campaign, where he faces fierce competition from Marianne Williamson and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Biden officially launched his reelection campaign on Tuesday, accompanied by a fantastic video that was juxtaposed with Republicans. The former vice president’s entrance into the race would surely have sounded the alarm among the socialist contenders, but Bernie has decided to withdraw from the race and back him.

In his parting words, Sanders acknowledged that although he enjoyed running for president, his job as chairman of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions committee should be focused on doing his best to ensure that Biden gets reelected, and he intends to help transform America’s policy to benefit the workers. Sanders’ decision to withdraw his candidacy shows that he was only interested in promoting himself and his socialist policies, but he has now come to terms with reality, which can only be attributed to the Democrats’ policy clout.
