Birthright citizenship has become a hot topic in the United States, and for good reason. Millions of Americans are concerned about how it affects our nation’s integrity and security. The idea that anyone can enter this country and have a child automatically granted citizenship has caused many to raise their eyebrows. There are people out there who passionately believe in helping our neighbors from impoverished countries. This is commendable and a hallmark of what makes America great. However, offering support does not mean we should close our eyes to the potential loopholes in our immigration laws. The risk of individuals crossing the border solely to give birth to a child who will be a U.S. citizen cannot be overlooked. This approach cheapens the privilege of citizenship, which should not be taken lightly.
If one were to take the helm of leadership in this country, it would be essential to prioritize the safety and well-being of American citizens first. Protecting our borders is not just a political stance; it is a necessary measure to ensure that people who come here are doing so for the right reasons and with the intention of contributing positively to society.
