Texas is declaring a big win for state sovereignty and border security after the Supreme Court gave the green light for the Lone Star State to start enforcing Senate Bill 4 (SB4), which allows nonfederal police to arrest and deport illegal immigrants. Governor Greg Abbott and State Attorney General Ken Paxton are strutting their stuff after the 6-3 SCOTUS decision in favor of Texas. Abbott took to social media to boast about the positive development, while Paxton hailed it as a “huge win” for the state’s efforts to secure its borders. The Texas twosome is leading the charge to defend the state against the Biden administration’s weak immigration policies.
This victory didn’t come easy, folks. The high court had previously put a temporary halt on SB4, but Texas didn’t back down. The law, signed by Abbott in 2023, empowers state and local police to enforce immigration laws, filling the gap left by the federal government’s lackluster approach to border security.
Of course, the left-wing liberals aren’t happy about this. The White House, led by President Biden, is wringing their hands and fretting over the potential chaos and confusion at the southern border. But when have the Democrats not been doomsayers? They’re quick to criticize, but slow to offer any meaningful solutions.
Democratic representatives like Joaquin Castro are crying foul, claiming that SB4 will lead to civil rights violations and anti-Hispanic violence. But don’t let their fear-mongering scare you, folks. This is just another example of the left trying to undermine the law and order that Texas is fighting to maintain.
On the flip side, Republican Rep. Tony Gonzales, whose district spans a third of the southern border, is standing strong behind SB4. He’s had it with the Biden administration’s border bungling and sees this Supreme Court decision as a much-needed step toward restoring order at the border.
The law’s sponsors, Sen. Charles Perry and Rep. David Spiller, assure us that SB4 is aimed at cracking down on illegal immigration, not rounding up law-abiding folks who have been living in Texas for years. They’re not out to cause harm or disrupt communities; they just want to protect Texas from the onslaught of illegal immigration.
Law enforcement, including the Border Patrol union, supports SB4 as a vital tool for maintaining the rule of law and safeguarding Americans. They’re on the frontlines, risking their lives to keep our borders secure, and the least we can do is give them the support they need to do their job.
The Justice Department and ACLU tried to rain on Texas’s parade by suing to delay the law’s implementation, but their efforts fell short in the face of Texas’s unwavering determination. Once again, the Lone Star State has stood tall against liberal opposition and secured a major victory for state sovereignty and border security.
So, what’s the bottom line? Texas is sending a clear message: the days of lax immigration enforcement are over. With SB4 in full force, the Lone Star State is blazing a new trail in the fight against illegal immigration, and there’s no turning back. Yeehaw!
