Elise Stefanik of New York and Senators JD Vance of Ohio and Marco Rubio of Florida.
Trump hinted in a recent interview that he would wait to make his official announcement until the Republican convention in Milwaukee. Doug Burgum, the governor of North Dakota, has also drawn interest as a possible contender after accompanying Trump to a New Jersey rally. Trump suggested that Burgum would be a useful collaborator by praising his knowledge and proficiency in the fields of energy and technology.
Other names that have surfaced as possible vice presidential contenders are Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, host Tucker Carlson, Gov. Kristi Noem of South Dakota, and Republican Reps. Byron Donalds of Florida and Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia.
Trump praised Scott in a prior interview and said he thought Scott would be a formidable contender. Additionally, he stated that Scott had stood up for him and supported him, which gave Trump confidence in Scott's ability to contribute significantly to his team.
