In a shockingly irresponsible move, the Biden administration granted a visa to Iranian official Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, despite the ongoing attacks on U.S. troops by Iranian proxy groups and Hamas’s hostage situation in the Gaza Strip. It seems the Biden administration is more concerned with appeasing Iran than protecting American lives.

When questioned about the visa during a press briefing, National Security Council spokesman John Kirby attempted to downplay the decision by stating it was standard procedure for meetings at the United Nations. But let’s be clear – granting a visa to an Iranian official who openly threatens the U.S. and Israel is anything but standard procedure. It shows a lack of backbone and a disregard for the safety and security of our nation.
It’s worth noting that in 2020, President Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo denied a visa for then Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif. This was a clear message that the Trump administration would not tolerate Iran’s aggression. But now, under the Biden administration, we are seeing a complete reversal of that stance.
This decision has not gone unnoticed on Capitol Hill, where lawmakers are expressing their concerns about the approval of Amir-Abdollahian’s travel to the U.S. It’s a slap in the face to those who have been victims of Iranian-backed attacks and a dangerous signal that the Biden administration is willing to appease our adversaries at the expense of our national security.
Once again, Biden’s weak stance on Iran is putting American lives at risk. It’s time for our leaders to prioritize the safety of our troops and the American people over diplomatic gestures that only embolden our enemies.
