The Secret Service is now under the microscope for letting a 20-year-old would-be assassin climb a roof and take shots at former President Donald Trump without anyone batting an eye. Former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino, who served under both Presidents Bush and Obama, is throwing down the gauntlet, demanding explanations for this colossal security blunder that left Trump injured.
Bongino isn’t holding back; he’s spilling the beans on how the Secret Service goofed up in ways that could have altered the country’s destiny forever. He points to a trifecta of problems that turned what should have been a fortress of security into a sieve. First on the chopping block is the lack of manpower and security equipment. Multiple layers of law enforcement had a front-row seat to a man scaling a roof just 500 feet from the president. One has to wonder if they were too busy sipping lattes to notice. Even rally-goers caught on video were trying to sound the alarm, but apparently, the security team decided to play deaf.
Ex-Secret Service Agent Goes Scorched Earth on Agency Over Trump Assassination Attempt https://t.co/Q7zCT1y5Ib

It’s worth noting that Trump’s security personnel had been begging for more boots on the ground long before this mess happened. Yet, their requests were turned down like an expired coupon at a high-end store. One has to wonder whether the bureaucracy was too tangled in red tape to heed these urgent pleas.
Failed leadership is the next item on Bongino’s checklist. He blames incompetent and corrupt management at the top for nearly throwing the nation into chaos. Bongino singles out Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle, accusing her of being more interested in meeting gender quotas than in securing the former president’s life. Prioritizing diversity over security quality seems to be the latest genius move from the leadership playbook, and it’s costing lives. Bongino is calling Cheatle to step down immediately, arguing that woke initiatives have no place in an agency that should live and breathe political neutrality.
Then there’s the political corruption. A political climate where a sniper almost takes out a former president, kills an innocent MAGA supporter, and critically injures two others is nothing to sweep under the rug. The agencies meant to protect the nation’s leaders need to be above the political fray, but lately, they’re acting like they’re auditioning for a sitcom. Anyone trying to spin this disaster into a Secret Service success story is either delusional or lying.
According to a recent HarrisX/Forbes survey, more than half of the respondents think the Secret Service is to blame for this near-tragedy and should face an investigation. Only 45 percent think the agency was brave and acted in an admirable fashion. It’s hard to see where the bravery was when a would-be killer managed to get on a roof without so much as a peep from law enforcement. Secret Service Director Cheatle’s excuse that putting snipers on a “sloped roof” wasn’t feasible due to safety concerns is about as convincing as a kid claiming the dog ate their homework.
When it comes down to it, this incident is more than just a near-miss; it’s a wake-up call. The Secret Service had better step up its game, or else America could be looking at an unthinkable tragedy instead of just a narrowly avoided one.
