Trump Chooses Decorum Over Retaliation; Leaves Biden’s Fate to Appointees

In a stunning display of restraint rarely seen in modern politics, President-elect Donald Trump has opted not to pursue revenge against President Joe Biden or special counsel Jack Smith, choosing instead to leave the decision to his future appointees. After emerging victorious over Vice President Kamala Harris in early November, Trump now stands tall as a beacon of decorum, even amid swirling accusations of political shenanigans aimed at him. One can only wonder if the left is shaking in their boots or simply stunned that they’re not facing an imminent onslaught.

Trump’s recent comments came during an appearance on Meet the Press, where he sidestepped questions about revenge tactics, opting instead for a more diplomatic approach. He hinted that the ultimate course of action would depend on his future Attorney General, Pam Bondi, and FBI Director, Kash Patel. It seems Trump is ready to play the long game, reminding everyone that while he’s not looking for prosecutorial payback, he won’t be hesitant if the evidence warrants such measures. At least this hints at a level of seriousness about his administration that many may have doubted.

While Trump maintains a cool demeanor regarding the possibility of targeting Biden or Smith, Mike Huckabee, soon to take on the role of ambassador to Israel, backed Trump’s non-retaliation stance. Huckabee believes that the law is on Trump’s side, asserting that he won’t require any extrajudicial help to ensure justice prevails. Opinions differ on whether Biden should pardon Trump, but Huckabee insists that the former president is more than capable of navigating the legal waters without a lifeline.

Jack Smith, meanwhile, seems to be racing against the clock as he aims to hurry the cases against Trump to trial. While these legal maneuvers began at the tail-end of Trump’s first term, they curiously emerged into the public eye just as Trump ramped up his 2024 reelection campaign. Coincidence? It seems either Smith is incredibly bad at timing, or he’s trying to gift-wrap a narrative for his political adversaries.

Despite new twists and turns in the ongoing saga, Trump continues to plead not guilty to the charges stacked against him. Recently, a Supreme Court ruling highlighting some presidential immunity prompted his legal team to push for the dismissal of Georgia’s election interference case. The trial may still be in the distance, but let’s not forget that at this point, even a turtle moving at a snail’s pace would appreciate the courtroom drama unfolding. Whether Trump ends up winning in the courts or simply outsmarts his opponents in the game of politics remains uncertain, but one thing is for sure—Trump isn’t going to sit idle while the left continues to scramble.
