Trump Leads Biden by 12% in North Carolina Poll

According to the latest poll by North Star Opinion Research, former President Donald Trump is leading President Joe Biden by 12% in North Carolina. The poll, which surveyed 600 likely voters, took place from May 29 to June 2. Trump was preferred by 44% of the respondents, while Biden was chosen by 32%. The poll also showed Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at 9%, Cornel West at 3%, and Jill Stein at 2%, with 8% of the voters undecided.

The state Board of Elections received voter signature lists from three groups, representing Kennedy, West, and the Constitution Party. If these signatures are verified, the parties would be able to slate candidates for any election race this fall, not just for the president.

While some consider North Carolina to be a toss-up state, history has shown that the state tends to favor Republican presidential candidates, with the exception of certain elections. In 2020, Trump beat Biden with more than 5.5 million votes, and in 2016, he turned back Hillary Clinton with more than 4.7 million votes. The last Republican to lead by as much as 9% in North Carolina was George W. Bush in 2004 when he defeated John Kerry.

Recent polls have consistently shown Trump ahead of Biden in North Carolina, with margins ranging from 3% to 8%. The polls also reveal that unaffiliated voters control statewide elections in North Carolina, making up 37% of the more than 7.4 million voter registrations, while Democrats and Republicans make up 32.1% and 30%, respectively.

American Greatness, the organization that conducted this poll, describes itself as “the leading voice of the next generation of American Conservatism.” North Star Opinion Research, which conducted the poll, has a history of providing message development advice and strategic insights to high-level political clients. This data suggests that Trump continues to maintain strong support in North Carolina, which has historically favored Republican candidates in presidential elections.
