Tucker Carlson, host of the popular Fox News program, recently called out “professional Christians” for not speaking up for religious freedom when “Christians are arrested for being Christians.” Carlson brought up the legal challenges faced by Mark Houck, who was accused of breaking the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act in 2022, but later found not guilty in January. Additionally, Carlson mentioned the arrest of Paul Vaughn, one of 11 pro-life protesters who were apprehended during a demonstration at an abortion clinic in March 2021. Video footage revealed that Vaughn was taken into custody by heavily armed FBI agents in October.
Carlson ridiculed Attorney General Merrick Garland for his justification, provided during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday, regarding why more anti-abortion demonstrators were detained than those who were accused of targeting crisis pregnancy centers.

The host of Fox News went on to talk about the experience of Derek Reimer, a Canadian clergyman who was apprehended by Calgary law enforcement officials on Thursday, following allegations of “mischief” and “disruptive behavior.” The arrest occurred after Reimer was forcibly ousted while protesting an “all-ages” drag performance.
Carlson pondered aloud, “Where are all the well-known Christians? This question seems to come up again and again,” he said. “Why are David French, Beth Moore, Tim Keller, and other individuals who came forward to support Christianity not speaking out when genuine Christians are being detained for merely being followers of their faith? There hasn’t been a single word.”
The fact that the “professional Christians” have remained silent in response to these arrests is not unexpected. It appears that they are more interested in furthering their own interests rather than advocating for the protection of religious liberties. This is made apparent when one compares the prosecutions of Houck and Vaughn with the cases of some rioters in Portland, who had their charges dropped by the Biden administration, while others were ordered to complete community service.
It’s a sad state of affairs when Christians are being arrested for simply practicing their faith. This is yet another example of how the Biden administration is attempting to erode our religious freedoms and push its own liberal agenda. It’s time for professional Christians to stand up and speak out against this blatant attack on our religious liberties. We must not allow our faith to be silenced by those who wish to impose their own beliefs on us.
