Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is feeling mighty honored these days after receiving an endorsement from none other than Iowa Evangelical talk-radio host Steve Deace. Now, this might come as a surprise to some, considering that Deace was once a supporter of Hillary Clinton winning the 2016 election. Yep, you heard that right, folks. He actually thought it was a great idea to have Hillary in the Oval Office. Thank goodness that never happened!
But let’s not dwell on past mistakes, shall we? Deace saw the light and began backing the Republican party by supporting Ted Cruz in 2016. However, when Cruz failed to secure the nomination and Donald Trump became the Republican presidential winner, Deace openly opposed Trump’s general election campaign. He even had the audacity to say, “I don’t really care who wins” when asked about his preferred candidate. Talk about flip-flopping!

In fact, Deace was so disgusted with Trump that he actually left the Republican Party and joined the NeverTrump movement. Can you believe it? This guy just can’t seem to make up his mind. He scolded conservatives for supporting Trump, calling them out in a now-deleted video column. He accused them of sitting on the sidelines during the primary process and refusing to do anything to stop the GOP from nominating another progressive loser. Ouch!
Deace didn’t stop there. He continued his rant by saying that Trump is an “unrepentant serial liar and adulterer” who stands for nothing but himself. He even encouraged Utah voters to support third-party candidate Evan McMullin for President, right before the 2016 election. Now, that’s what I call a real “Never Trumper.”
Well, Governor DeSantis seems to have a different opinion of Deace’s endorsement. He proudly tweeted, “I’m honored to receive the endorsement from the great @SteveDeaceShow. Like so many Iowans, Steve knows the time for excuses is over. We will get the job done in 2024!” Good for you, Governor! It’s always nice to have the support of someone who’s been on both sides of the political fence. Maybe Deace finally realized that backing the winning team is the way to go.
