The friendship between U.S. President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has never been strong. They disagree on how things should move forward in the Middle East. Their relationship now seems worse than ever as Israel continues to fight against Hamas in Gaza.
One of Biden’s friends, former Senator Claire McCaskill from Missouri, said that Biden’s top goal right now is to make Netanyahu step down as the leader of Israel. This surprising comment came during a talk show discussion about recent Israeli bombings in Gaza that killed many innocent Palestinians.
The recent attack in Gaza caused a lot of criticism towards Netanyahu. Even though he said it was a mistake, many people are calling for Israel to stop the attacks on Gaza. Some are even asking for a ceasefire to be put in place.
It seems like many people in the U.S. government, including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, want Netanyahu to resign too. They blame him for what’s happening in Gaza and feel like he is stopping any chance of peace happening in the area.
