In a surprising turn of events, a recent poll conducted by the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University revealed that if the 2024 presidential election between Governor Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) and President Joe Biden were to take place today, Youngkin would come out on top. With a significant lead, 44% of respondents stated that they would vote for Youngkin, while only 37% would vote for Biden.

Although Governor Youngkin has not officially entered the race for the presidency, sources suggest that he is seriously considering a bid for the 2024 Republican nomination. This news has intensified speculation and further piques curiosity surrounding Youngkin’s plans.
In the same poll, it was found that if the match-up were between Biden and former President Donald Trump, Biden would gain an upper hand with support from 43% of voters, while Trump would secure 40% of respondents. However, in a hypothetical face-off against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL), the results were a dead heat, with both candidates receiving 41% of the vote.
There seems to be a clear trend in the poll’s findings, indicating that Democrats and Republicans have no distinct advantage over each other in the eyes of voters. This should serve as a wake-up call for both parties, as voters are evidently seeking strong leadership and a voice that truly represents their interests.
Analyzing the poll further, it becomes apparent that while 77% of Democrats were unwavering in their support for Biden, 83% of Republicans expressed their willingness to vote for the GOP nominee.
