Biden Dismisses Trump Document Case as Partisan, Defends Own Record

President Joe Biden’s predictable spin machine was in full gear during a prime-time NBC News interview, as he reacted to Judge Aileen Cannon’s dismissal of former President Donald Trump’s classified documents case. It appears Biden isn’t surprised by the decision, likely because he’s aware that the Supreme Court’s ruling on immunity, and Justice Clarence Thomas’s dissent, left little ground for the case to stand on.

NBC’s quid-pro-quo with Biden covered all the fanfare—and then some. From the so-called assassination attempt against Trump to Biden’s cagey dance around securing the Democratic nomination and, of course, the predictable demonization of Trump’s legal battles. Biden waved off Cannon’s decision as coming from shaky legal grounds, failing to mention he’s just sour over the Supreme Court and particularly Justice Thomas, who has no tolerance for liberal overreach.

And of course, Biden trundled out his own classified documents saga for a moment of self-righteous comparison. He condescendingly painted his handling of classified documents as exemplary, pointing out that he welcomed agents going through his house for hours on end because he simply had nothing to hide. Meanwhile, the nation remembers Biden’s blunders and secret document stashes strewn across his properties.

Biden wasn’t just defensive about his record; he was prickly and defensive about his future. Clearly irked by Lester Holt’s grilling over his 2024 intentions, Biden was adamant that he’s the decider—and apparently hasn’t needed a heart-to-heart with former President Obama for weeks. It’s evident Biden bristled when cornered, lashing out about Trump’s supposed lies rather than meaningfully defending his own position.

The president’s ramblings covered all bases—taking thinly veiled jabs at Trump while also staving off the whisper campaign about whether he’d even make it to another debate. Biden’s hazy recollections and commitment to debating Trump in September had the air of a man desperately clinging to relevance.

To top it all off, Biden’s attempt at bravado bore the marks of a campaign on edge. Talking up his 22 major events and “overwhelming crowds” felt more like a final hurrah than a confident re-election bid. But in the echo chamber of partisan media, Biden’s narrative persists unchallenged.
