In a surprising turn of events, the Biden administration has been forced to continue construction on the border wall originally initiated by former President Donald Trump. Despite their initial promises to halt construction and cancel funding for the project, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have confirmed that they are legally bound to use the funding as appropriated, which includes completing 20 miles of the border wall.

It’s a clear example of the Biden administration’s incompetence and lack of commitment to secure our borders. The wall is a crucial component of a comprehensive border security strategy, and the fact that they are now being forced to complete it shows their flip-flopping and indecisiveness on this issue. Just months ago, President Biden declared the national emergency at the southern border as “unwarranted” and called the use of funds for the wall “a waste of money.” Yet, here we are, with the administration begrudgingly moving forward with the project.
What’s even more concerning is that the Biden administration continues to call on Congress to cancel the remaining funding for the wall. They claim that the funds would be better used for “smarter border security measures.” But the reality is that technology and other non-barrier solutions have been proven to be inadequate in deterring illegal immigration. The wall serves as a physical deterrent and an effective tool for border patrol agents to do their job and keep our country safe.
It’s clear that the Biden administration is more concerned with appeasing their progressive base than actually prioritizing the safety and security of the American people. Their handling of the border crisis has been riddled with contradictions and concessions. They talk about addressing the root causes of migration and giving people options to apply for asylum in their home country, but their actions tell a different story.
The Biden administration’s immigration parole program, which aims to grant discretionary parole to individuals from specific countries, is a prime example of their misguided approach. This program does nothing to address the root causes of migration or provide a viable solution for those seeking asylum. It simply instructs individuals to show up at a port of entry and enter the country without ever applying for asylum. It’s a slap in the face to the countless individuals who are waiting in line and following the proper process to seek asylum.
In the end, the Biden administration’s incompetence and lack of a coherent border security strategy are only exacerbating the crisis at our southern border. By being forced to complete more of the border wall, they are admitting that the wall is necessary and effective. It’s time for them to abandon their progressive agenda and prioritize the safety and security of the American people. Building the wall is a step in the right direction, but it’s clear that more needs to be done to address the root causes of the border crisis and ensure the integrity of our immigration system.
