President Joe Biden’s recent interview with CNN has sparked controversy after he made bold claims about the economy. In the interview, Biden stated that when he took office, the inflation rate was 9 percent. However, this statement has been fact-checked and proven to be untrue, as the last time inflation rates were anywhere near 9 percent was back in 1981 during Ronald Reagan’s presidency.
The numbers speak for themselves – during Donald Trump’s presidency, the highest inflation rate was 2.9 percent, significantly lower than the 9 percent Biden claimed he inherited. In fact, in January 2021 when Biden took office, the inflation rate was only 1.4 percent. This directly contradicts Biden’s assertion of inheriting a 9 percent inflation rate.
