The surge of illegal border crossings at the southern border has put the Biden administration in a difficult position. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) revealed that migrant encounters had increased by 25% in March, with over 191,000 migrants being apprehended, which is higher than the 156,000 recorded in February. Despite President Biden's announcement of new measures to tackle illegal immigration at the border, the number of incidents has continued to rise. Given Biden's open-border policies and his inclination to cater to the leftist agenda, this failure is not unexpected.
Biden Admin Defends Border Measures After March Spike In Migrant Encounters @DailyCaller https://t.co/tXPANfc6Ej

Biden announced two processes for migrants who would be expelled under Title 42, which aims to curb the spread of COVID-19. However, these measures have been criticized for being ineffective and just for show. The humanitarian parole process only benefits people from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, leaving many wondering how many illegal immigrants are crossing the border from other countries. Furthermore, these processes can be exploited and abused, and even the CBP acknowledges that they only eliminate smugglers and have no impact on illegal immigration reduction.
The CBP stated that “The continued decline in Border Patrol encounters illustrates the efficacy of the measures outlined by the Administration on January 5, 2023, which include expanding safe and orderly legal migration processes and implementing consequences to those who do not utilize these processes.” However, the data shows that the increasing encounters with illegal immigrants tell a different story.
The acting commissioner of CBP has a positive outlook and claims that the app is reducing the exploitation of migrants by smugglers. However, it has not been effective in stopping the influx of illegal immigrants. The Biden administration is making an effort to appear productive, but in reality, it is failing to prevent illegal immigration at the border.
The new administration should shift to the Trump-era public health order, which does a good job mitigating the spread of COVID-19, rather than the Biden way, which merely creates an influx of illegal immigrants. Biden’s policies are encouraging more migration, not less, and if the administration continues down this road, they will have a full-blown crisis on their hands.
