Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, known for his evasive maneuvers, dodged questions like a skilled driver on a winding road when pressed about why President Joe Biden won’t bring back Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy. This policy, a favorite among conservatives for its effectiveness, sent close to 70,000 migrants south of the border to await their court hearings.

Buttigieg, in his typical fashion, deflected blame onto Republicans for not passing a bipartisan border security deal, conveniently shifting the focus away from the administration’s failure to address the escalating crisis at the border. It seems like a familiar tune from the Biden administration – blame others for their own shortcomings.
The Secretary’s response reeks of political rhetoric, suggesting that Biden is doing everything “responsibly possible” within the confines of the law. But what about taking decisive action to stem the tide of illegal immigration? Why won’t the President reinstate a policy that was proven to be effective in curbing the influx of migrants?
It’s clear that the Biden administration is more concerned with undoing Trump-era policies than implementing practical solutions to secure our borders. Rolling back the Muslim travel ban and halting the border wall project may appease the left, but it does little to address the real and pressing issue of illegal immigration.
With over 2.2 million encounters in fiscal year 2022 and another 2 million in fiscal year 2023, it’s evident that the Biden administration’s approach is failing. It’s time for action, not empty rhetoric and blame-shifting. The American people deserve a president who prioritizes national security and upholds the rule of law, not one who plays politics with people’s lives at the border. Let’s hope the Biden administration wakes up to reality before it’s too late.
