Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) has once again proven why he is a true conservative leader by signing Senate Bill 1718 into law, which has recently gone into effect. This new law includes a provision that will no longer recognize driver’s licenses issued by certain states to illegal immigrants. And let’s just say, it’s about time someone took a stand against this nonsense.

The states whose driver’s licenses will not be recognized in Florida are Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Rhode Island, and Vermont. These states have shamelessly been handing out licenses to individuals who knowingly broke our laws by entering the country illegally. But thanks to Governor DeSantis, their little game is over.
Dave Kerner, the executive director of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, explained the reasoning behind this law, and his words are pure gold. Kerner emphasized that Florida wants to send a clear message to illegal immigrants that our state is not a haven for those who disregard our laws and skip the proper immigration processes.
Governor DeSantis has repeatedly made it clear that he will not tolerate any form of incentivizing illegal immigration. And why should he? We are a nation of laws, and those who choose to enter our country illegally should not be rewarded with the privilege of driving on our roads. It’s common sense, really.
If an illegal immigrant is caught using one of the blacklisted licenses, they will face charges and be issued a citation. There is no discretion on this matter, as it should be. We cannot allow individuals to flout our laws and go unpunished. It’s time to hold them accountable.
What’s truly inspiring about this new law is that we have every reason to hope that other states will follow Florida’s lead. We need more leaders who are willing to stand up against illegal immigration and protect the integrity of our great nation. It’s time to put an end to this madness.
In a stunning example of the consequences of lax immigration policies, Texas and Florida state troopers recently discovered two juveniles being smuggled inside the trunk of a car by an illegal immigrant. And do you know which type of license this smuggler had? A California driver’s license issued to undocumented individuals. It’s clear that states like California are enabling this behavior, and it’s high time we put a stop to it.
Thankfully, we have Governor DeSantis and other conservative leaders who are fighting for the rule of law. This new law in Florida is just the beginning. Let’s hope more states have the courage to step up and join the fight against illegal immigration. It’s time to make our nation strong and secure again.
