U.S. District Court Judge Larry Hicks tragically passed away on Wednesday after being hit by a car outside a federal courthouse in Reno, Nevada. The 80-year-old judge had an accomplished career, beginning as a prosecutor in Nevada before eventually being nominated for the federal judge position by President George W. Bush and sworn in as United States District Court Judge for the District of Nevada in 2001.
His son, Chris Hicks, who is the current district attorney for Washoe County, released a statement expressing the deep loss their family and community has experienced. Hicks was known for his dedication to justice and his pride in his family. Reports indicate that he put his family above all else and cherished the time he spent with them.
