Lazy Senate’s 2024 Disappearing Act – $57K for What?

The Wisconsin Senate has called it quits for the year, and boy, are they calling it quits early! Those senators won’t be back until January 2025! That’s like saying “adios” in 2024 and not showing your face until the next year. But get this, folks — they’re still raking in a sweet salary of $57,408 for only a few months of work. Who wouldn’t want a gig like that?

The Democrats are throwing fits, saying there’s still a ton of stuff to be done before they shut down shop. They’re whining about processing, missing and murdered women task force, DACA, expungement, and a bunch of other stuff. I mean, come on! Can’t they take a hint that it’s time to wrap things up and come back fresh in 2025?

But here’s the kicker, folks. The Wisconsin Senate has been labeled the “least active full-time state legislative body in the country.” That’s right, they’re in a league of their own when it comes to taking it easy. I guess they’ve been too busy counting cheese curds to get anything done.

Minority Caucus Chairman Chris Larson is spewing some nonsense about gerrymandered Republican majorities and how change is long overdue. Well, I have news for you, Larson. The real change that’s long overdue is the Senate actually doing some work instead of cashing in those big fat paychecks for hardly lifting a finger.

So, there you have it, folks. The Wisconsin Senate is packing it in early, and the Democrats are crying foul, but let’s be real — it’s time for these senators to kick back, relax, and enjoy their cushy salary until they come back in 2025.
