Massachusetts residents have spoken, and they have made it clear that they are willing to foot the bill for a policy that will grant driver’s licenses to undocumented immigrants. Despite the hefty price tag of nearly $30,000,000, Democratic Governor Maura Healey has proposed the amount in her latest annual budget and is pushing for the state legislature to approve it. This law would not only allow undocumented immigrants to get driver’s licenses, but it would also provide them with access to insurance coverage and expand service hours at the RMV.

The process of attaining a driver’s license is no different for an undocumented immigrant than it is for a legal citizen born in the U.S., and seven new languages have been added to the RMV permit test to accommodate those who may not speak English. This new law is set to take effect July 1, and it is yet another example of liberal policies being pushed through in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

It is concerning that Massachusetts residents are willing to spend such a large amount of money on a policy that will benefit those who are not legally allowed to be in the country. This policy is an example of how liberal politicians are willing to put taxpayers’ money towards those who are not citizens, while neglecting the needs of citizens. It is also concerning that this policy does not require any additional proof of citizenship or legal status from those applying for a driver’s license, which could lead to potential security risks.
This new law is a prime example of how liberal policies can be pushed through in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and it is concerning that taxpayers’ money is being spent on those who are not legally allowed to be in the country. It is important that the state legislature takes into consideration the potential security risks associated with this policy and that they ensure that only those who are legally allowed to be in the country are granted driver’s licenses.
