Perry Demands Border Fix or No Biden SOTU Address!

In a riveting appearance on “Mornings With Maria” on Monday, Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) passionately called for the House of Representatives to consider the bold move of canceling President Joe Biden’s planned State of the Union address unless substantial action is taken to secure the nation’s southern border.

Perry’s argument stems from a deep-seated critique of the administration’s priorities, which he believes are far from the mark, favoring international matters over pressing domestic crises.

Expressing disdain for the ongoing negotiations regarding the government shutdown and proposed additional funding for Ukraine, Perry questioned the administration’s allegiance to American security and prosperity. He lamented, “The letter that Chuck Schumer sent mentions Ukraine 12 times, America three times. We can see very clearly what the priority is for Chuck Schumer, and it’s not America.”

In the midst of mounting concerns about national security and immigration, Perry positioned the border crisis as a litmus test for the administration’s commitment to American well-being. “We would like to see our southern border secured…what it is is the normal contempt from the left and Chuck Schumer in particular, Joe Biden as well,” Perry expressed, echoing the sentiments of his constituents and fellow Republicans.

The call to potentially cancel the State of the Union address is part of a broader strategy to use congressional power to urge action on border security.

Perry highlighted the dire consequences of inaction, referencing the death of 22-year-old nursing student Laken Hope Riley, who was killed by a migrant who crossed the open border in El Paso, Texas. The congressman also criticized the forthcoming State of the Union as an opportunity for the administration to disseminate “propaganda” instead of addressing the real issues affecting Americans.

Reflecting on the Biden administration’s policies and their effects, Perry suggested that the time during the State of the Union would be “better spent” discussing solutions to secure the border and tackle the myriad challenges facing the nation.

“We passed the best border security package ever to come through Congress a year and a half ago or so. It’s dead in the Senate, and the president won’t discuss it,” he noted. As the debate rages on, Perry’s call to action resonates as a plea for leadership that prioritizes the American people and their safety.

Recently, House Republicans rejected bipartisan border legislation supported by Biden, just days after former President Trump criticized the bill. Both Biden and Trump are anticipated to visit the southern border on Thursday, underscoring the significance of immigration and border security in the upcoming November elections.

Biden’s upcoming visit to Brownsville, Texas, coincides with his push for Congress to take measures to manage the influx of migrants into the United States and consider implementing executive actions to address the situation.
