In a shocking display of emotional outburst, Progressive Rep. Jamaal Bowman of New York engaged in a heated exchange with GOP Rep. Thomas Massie on the topic of gun control. After Monday’s tragic shooting in Nashville, which claimed six lives, three of them children, Bowman took to yelling at his Republican colleagues who did not support further gun control measures.

Bowman couldn’t control his emotions as he screamed, “They’re cowards! They won’t do anything to save the lives of our children at all. Cowards!” This is just another example of the left shouting down those who disagree with them without any regard for the facts.

He wanted to discuss solutions to school shootings, but when I offered a solution he began shouting. When he asked for data, I gave him data, but then he just shouted more. Bring facts. There’s never been a school shooting in the hundreds of schools that allow staff to carry. https://t.co/jInj4GHBDL

Republicans won't do SHIT when it comes to gun violence, but try to tell me to calm down.
NO.
We can't calm down. People are dying everyday while we wait. pic.twitter.com/38mYYW9cgs

Republican lawmakers, on the other hand, have been offering solutions to end school shootings for years. During the argument, Rep. Thomas Massie proposed a sensible solution, which did not sit well with Bowman. Massie calmly stated, “You know, there’s never been a school shooting in a school that allows teachers to carry.” However, Bowman in his characteristic and irrational style screamed back, “More guns lead to more death.” That statement flies in the face of statistical evidence that proves the opposite.
The exchange was unproductive, but it revealed the deeper truth that progressive lawmakers have no interest in finding real solutions to end school shootings. Instead, they would rather play politics and pass ineffective gun control measures that only disarm law-abiding citizens. Rep. Thomas Massie has been fighting to make schools safer by introducing the “Safe Students Act,” which would repeal the Federal Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990.
Rep. Massie is right to fight for the rights of schools to allow properly trained faculty to carry firearms to protect students. Schools should not be gun-free zones, as they have been for far too long. Unfortunately, progressive lawmakers like Bowman are more interested in blaming their political opponents than working towards meaningful solutions to protect our schools.
It’s time for the left to accept that the answer does not lie in taking away the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens. Instead, it’s time to embrace common-sense solutions like the Safe Students Act, which would allow trained professionals to carry and protect schoolchildren. The fact is, guns in the hands of the right person save lives!
