Kentucky Republican Rand Paul is not convinced that Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, is actually retired. He is demanding answers from the Biden administration regarding Fauci’s employment status.

According to a letter written by Fauci himself, he stated that he intended to retire in December 2022 to begin the next chapter of his career. However, Fauci also made statements in media appearances suggesting that he was not actually retiring from his current positions. This has raised questions for Rand Paul about Fauci’s current employment status and whether he is still receiving taxpayer-funded benefits associated with active public services.
Paul wants to know if Fauci is still employed by or formally affiliated with any federal agencies, such as the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services or the National Institutes of Health. He also wants to know if Fauci has access to non-public areas and maintains an office within these federal agencies.
Additionally, Rand Paul is questioning whether Fauci is receiving legal representation or legal advice through these agencies and if he is receiving protective detail and security services funded by federal agencies or contractors.
Paul is not letting this issue go and is demanding accountability from Fauci for his alleged mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic. In a statement, Paul accused Fauci of funding dangerous research in Wuhan, which ultimately resulted in a leak from the lab and the deaths of millions of people worldwide. He also believes that Fauci lied in his testimony before Congress, which is a felony punishable by five years in jail.
The Republican congressman Jim Jordan has also voiced his concerns about Fauci and said that Republicans are building a case against him. Fauci has claimed that he has received death threats over calls to have him prosecuted. While Fauci dismisses the claims made against him as misinformation and lies, he acknowledges the negative effect that taking it seriously has on him and his family. It remains to be seen how the Biden administration will respond to Rand Paul’s demands for answers regarding Fauci’s employment status.
