In a not-so-surprising turn of events, the ultra-progressive representative, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, decided to unleash her wrath upon the Biden administration for allowing the construction of the border wall to begin in Texas. With all the drama of a Broadway performance, she passionately exclaimed, “The Biden administration was not required to expand construction of the border wall — and they certainly were not required to waive several environmental laws to expedite the building. The President needs to take responsibility for this decision and reverse the course.” Ah, the melodramatics never cease to amaze.
Of course, this outburst comes after the administration daringly waived 26 federal laws to make way for about 20 miles of border wall development. But President Biden, always one to point fingers, claims his hands are tied because he “can’t stop” the money that was appropriated for the wall before he took office. The nerve! Ocasio-Cortez, in her infinite wisdom, argues that walls actually endanger the lives of migrants and their children. She insists that walls just push them into more remote areas, where their chances of perishing increase. How considerate of her to suddenly be concerned for the safety of migrants.
1. Walls don’t work
2. President Biden promised he wouldn’t build them
3. Now even harder for voters to distinguish between him & Trump on border/immigration
4. Wasted opportunity to use executive power to actually fix our asylum system instead of impotent political posturing https://t.co/AQkxokNd2a

Not to be outdone, other progressives like Beto O’Rourke and Maxwell Frost, along with the ACLU, also condemned the plan. According to Jonathan Blazer, the director of border strategies at the American Civil Liberties Union, the Biden administration’s decision to rush into border wall construction is a “profound failure,” a betrayal of President Biden’s promise that the wall is not a serious policy solution. But fear not, fellow conservatives, for we know all too well that these liberals are simply clinging onto their failed policies of the past.
Interestingly, Mexico’s President, Andres Manuel López Obrador, chimed in, calling the plan a “setback” because it supposedly does not solve the problem. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, on the other hand, insisted that the administration has “no new policy with respect to border walls.” He reaffirmed that a border wall is definitely not the answer, as if there was ever any doubt. Oh, the comedy continues in Washington.
