The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) may have been dismissed as a fringe group in the past, but they are gaining influence and momentum in the political landscape. With members like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the DSA is pushing the Democrat Party further to the left. Their membership has increased significantly in recent years, with approximately 80,000 members today.

Cities like New York City, Los Angeles, and Minneapolis have already fallen under the sway of Democrat Socialist policies. These policies include defunding the police, implementing rent controls, transitioning away from fossil fuels, and promoting racial equity. In New York City, there are at least six Democratic Socialist City Council members who have clashed with Mayor Eric Adams and even had online disputes with Ocasio-Cortez. Los Angeles has three Democratic Socialist Council members who advocate for shutting down prisons and decriminalizing hard drugs.
There's no such thing as "Democratic Socialists". They're socialists attempting to soften and make themselves sound better to real Americans with the term. But in the end, they'll tax you into oblivion and eventually regulate you out of existence if given the chance.

Even at the national level, the DSA has made an impact. Five members of the House of Representatives identify as Democratic Socialists, including Ocasio-Cortez and Rashida Tlaib. Some believe that President Joe Biden has shifted his stance to appease the progressive left, although there have been disappointments with his lack of action on certain left-wing policies.
Despite a drop in overall popularity of socialism among Americans, the DSA continues to get elected. Their website outlines their agenda, which includes massive government programs funded by taxing the rich, defunding the police, social and economic justice (wealth redistribution), and strict control and regulation in line with the Green New Deal. Republicans and conservatives may find the DSA amusing, but underestimating their influence would be a mistake with potentially serious consequences for the country. In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising if a House Democratic Socialist Caucus is formed in the near future to consolidate their power.
