The latest news on the southern border confirms what we conservatives have been saying all along – terrorists are crossing into the United States through the porous border. And we’re not just talking about drug cartels or lone wolves, we’re talking about active members of violent terrorist groups.
According to a federal memo obtained by the Daily Caller, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) admitted that they let a terrorist freely roam the United States for a year before realizing their mistake. And this isn’t an isolated incident. Minnesota, in particular, has been a hotspot for terrorist activity for over a decade.
Shockingly, Al-Shabaab, the terrorist group that the individual in question was a member of, has even run recruitment videos praising their Minnesota members. It’s clear that Minnesota has become a breeding ground for terrorism, with specific communities serving as pipelines for Al-Shabaab and sending attackers overseas.
Even Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar recognized the threat Al-Shabaab posed to Minnesota back in 2015 and sought funding for the Department of Homeland Security. The fact that this problem has persisted across multiple administrations is alarming.
We can’t deny the national security crisis at the southern border any longer. The FBI itself has testified before Congress, stating that terrorists coming across the border pose a threat to all Americans. In fact, just last fall, 169 individuals on the terrorist list tried to cross. And those figures don’t even account for the individuals who cross undetected or the mistakes made by border control.
Retired ICE field director John Fabbricatore expressed his concerns, stating that terrorists are able to freely roam the country for months before their criminal and terrorist histories come to light. It’s clear that the current vetting process at the border is not comprehensive or effective.
A viral video shared by Fox News shows a “migrant” threatening those around him as he attempts to cross the border illegally. It’s unclear whether this individual was ever caught or if the Biden administration even cares. Their focus seems to be on rolling back enforcement at the border rather than enhancing it.
It’s not about immigration; it’s about protecting our borders from individuals who want to harm us. Al-Shabaab and other terrorist groups are exploiting the southern border to infiltrate our states, counties, and communities. The question is, where is the White House? Why is Biden more focused on undoing border enforcement rather than strengthening it?
Mayors are begging for aid, and even Democratic Senator John Fetterman is openly criticizing Biden’s stance on the issue. This is not just a matter of cutting immigration; this is a real threat from terrorists using our border gaps to enter the country.
To make matters worse, the federal government is failing to properly identify the individuals they do catch. They release people who should have been detained, putting innocent lives at risk. This status quo simply doesn’t work when it allows terrorists to easily enter the United States.
Every week, we are confronted with new stories highlighting the humanitarian and national security disaster at the southern border. We need drastic change before something catastrophic happens due to the failure of duty from the White House and beyond. It’s time to prioritize the safety and security of our nation.
