In a strange twist of events, it has been revealed that Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) was caught taking a nap during a hearing in the House Judiciary Committee. Nadler, who was once the top dog among Democrats, seems to have lost his drive to serve his country since Republicans retook the lower chamber in the 2022 midterms. It’s no wonder the Democrats seem unbothered by his deep sleep during a hearing for a regulatory reform bill.
Thanks to a viral video that began circulating on Twitter, the whole world can now see that Nadler was sleeping soundly during a hearing that could have had major implications for America’s regulatory framework. Although some off-camera voices were heard trying to discreetly wake him up, Nadler remained blissfully unresponsive to the proceedings going on around him.

It’s no surprise then that Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) has suggested that the committee has done its best work with Nadler being in low power mode. It is a known fact that Nadler is not the most active member of Congress; his power naps are something of a common occurrence in the halls of power.
But the recent incident raises concerns about Democrats’ commitment to their jobs, especially when it comes to regulatory reforms. Americans cannot afford to have their representatives falling asleep on the job. It’s a shame that Nadler’s Democratic colleagues didn’t even bat an eye at his egregious behavior during the hearing.
This whole episode is indicative of a larger problem within the Democratic Party. Liberals have become so entrenched in their power that they’ve lost sight of their duty to serve the American people. Nadler’s inability to stay awake serves as a wake-up call for all Americans who take regulatory reforms seriously. The Republican Party must continue its efforts to hold the Democrats accountable and ensure that they are actively working to make America a better place.
