Biden Hosts Influencers to Promote $7.4B Student Loan Cancellation Plan

The White House invited around thirty social media influencers to the White House, where they talked about President Biden’s idea to cancel student loans. The President and Vice President Harris announced plans to eliminate an extra $7.4 billion in student loan debt that some borrowers still owe.

Some well-known influencers at the briefing were Harry Sisson with 850,000 TikTok followers and Vitus Shehar with over three million followers on TikTok. Neera Tanden, a member of President Biden’s Domestic Policy Council, and Viviann Anguiano, the Director of Education for the council, also spoke at the event.

The influencers were assured that they and other young Americans would not have to pay back part of their student loans because of President Biden’s actions. Some influencers were excited to hear the news, even if they weren’t currently paying back their loans.

However, some of the influencers were worried because they knew that the Supreme Court had blocked an earlier attempt by President Biden to cancel student loans. The White House assured them that they were using different methods this time to address the court’s decision.

While the White House moves forward with this plan, there is a chance it could face legal challenges that might lead to the plan being stopped. Even so, President Biden and his team might gain political benefits from this issue leading up to the 2024 election.
