In a move that has conservatives cheering, Congress revealed a spending bill aimed at tightening the reins on China’s shady land acquisitions in America. With a potential government shutdown looming, lawmakers are taking a stand against foreign entities like China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran who’ve been eyeing U.S. agricultural land like hungry vultures.
The bill, cleverly crafted to give China the cold shoulder, would require the Secretary of Agriculture to sit on the Committee on Foreign Investment to monitor transactions involving agricultural land. This means no more sneaky land grabs by China’s Communist Party cronies near military installations. It’s about time someone put their foot down on these foreign powers trying to get cozy with our soil.
The alarming reality of Chinese companies purchasing land near sensitive military bases like Fort Leavenworth and the Whiteman Air Force Base has finally caught the attention of lawmakers. The fact that these deals were even considered is mind-boggling. Who wants Chinese-made electric vehicle batteries next door to a military base? Not Americans, that’s for sure.
Let’s not forget the Democratic officials like Gov. J.B. Pritzker and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer opening their arms to CCP-linked companies like Gotion. What are they thinking? It’s like letting the fox into the henhouse and expecting it not to cause any trouble. These short-sighted decisions could have long-term consequences for national security.
Chairman of the House Select Committee on the CCP, Mike Gallagher, hit the nail on the head when he expressed concerns about the CCP gathering intelligence near our military bases. China wouldn’t allow Americans to do the same near their military installations, so why should we? It’s time to show China that America is not for sale, especially not our precious soil near vital national defense assets.
The spending bill is a step in the right direction to protect American interests and keep foreign adversaries from getting too cozy with our land. Let’s hope lawmakers see the wisdom in passing this bill to safeguard our nation’s security and sovereignty. America first, always and forever!
