Governor Henry McMaster of South Carolina has found himself under attack from the Democrats after making a lighthearted joke at a GOP convention. The Governor exclaimed, “I look forward to the day that Democrats are so rare, we have to hunt them with dogs.” Rather than laugh at the governor’s apparent sense of humor, the Democrats have been clutching their pearls and screaming “racism.”

The Anderson County Democrat chair has even gone so far as to create an online petition, demanding an apology from McMaster for “incitement of political violence”. Give us a break, these people are overreacting like a bunch of snowflakes. There is no need for the Governor to apologize. He has made similar comments at previous GOP conventions, and these comments are clearly intended as a joke, nothing more.
It is clear that the Democrats are grasping at straws. They are scraping the bottom of the barrel to find anything they can twist into being deemed “offensive.” Governor McMaster’s office has stated that these remarks are not meant to be taken seriously, and it is a sad state of affairs when humor is no longer allowed in our political discourse.
It is worth noting that the Governor made a joke in jest. It wasn’t meant to be taken seriously but instead to poke fun at the idea of a world without Democrats. If the Democrats are going to be such fragile snowflakes that they can’t handle a simple joke, then that only highlights how out of touch and weak they are. Rather than asking for an apology, perhaps they should spend more time trying to win an election. After all, it’s not like they’ve had much success recently.
