A whistleblower testimony obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation suggests that the FBI may have played a role in the events of January 6th at the Capitol. The FBI’s Washington Field Office reportedly requested the Boston Field Office to investigate 140 individuals who traveled from Massachusetts to D.C. on Jan. 6 by bus. However, the Washington office denied the Boston office’s request to view video evidence showing whether those individuals were present inside the Capitol. Apparently, the purpose of the denial was to safeguard the anonymity of potential undercover agents.

According to FBI whistleblower George Hill, the Boston office initiated investigations into two individuals who were found to be present in restricted areas of the Capitol based on “definitive evidence”. However, the Washington Field Office (WFO) requested that cases be opened against all individuals who traveled on the same bus. This request was declined on the grounds that it constituted a “First Amendment protected activity”.

The Washington Field Office (WFO) declined to provide footage of individuals inside the Capitol unless they had precise information about when and where they were present. This refusal has prompted speculation that FBI agents may have been present among the crowd on Jan. 6. FBI Director Christopher Wray and Executive Assistant Director of the FBI National Security Branch, Jill Sanborn, both declined to answer questions about whether the bureau had confidential human sources among the Jan. 6 protestors.
It is concerning that the FBI is refusing to answer questions about their involvement in the events of January 6th, and it raises questions as to why they are so intent on protecting undercover agents or confidential human sources. It is possible that they are attempting to cover up their own involvement in what happened that day, or that they are trying to protect agents who may have been involved in the insurrection. Either way, it is concerning that they are not being transparent about their activities on January 6th.
This lack of transparency is especially concerning given that House Judiciary Chair and Republican Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan has stated that “there are already immense obstacles in place deterring whistleblowers from coming forward” and that he hopes “Democrat leaks and partisan criticisms don’t chill other whistleblowers from coming forward.” It is essential that we get to the bottom of what happened on January 6th so that justice can be served, and it is disheartening that the FBI is not being more open about their involvement in the events of that day.
It is imperative that we uncover the truth about the events that occurred at the Capitol on January 6th, and the American people deserve to know what transpired. The lack of transparency from the FBI regarding their actions on that day is worrisome, and it is crucial that we determine what happened to ensure that justice is served. The FBI must reveal their role in the January 6th events and take responsibility for their conduct.
