Georgia DA Fani Willis Under Conservative Microscope: Investigation Begins!

The House Judiciary Committee announced on Thursday that it will be taking a closer look at the actions of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and her motives behind indicting former President Donald Trump. The announcement came after Trump was arraigned in Atlanta on several charges related to his challenge of the 2020 election.

In a letter to Willis, signed by Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, the committee expressed concerns about the potential political motivation behind Willis’s actions. They pointed out that just four days before the indictment, she launched a new campaign fundraising website that highlighted her investigation into Trump. The committee also noted that the forewoman of the special grand jury that investigated Trump expressed excitement about subpoenaing him during a media tour.

The letter also raised questions about Willis’s impartiality, mentioning that she was disqualified by a Fulton County court from targeting current Georgia Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones in her probe because she actively supported his Democratic opponent. It also pointed out the timing of the indictment, which started in February 2021 but charges were not brought until two-and-a-half years later, just as the campaign for the Republican presidential nomination is heating up.

The committee expressed concerns that this prosecution may be an attempt to interfere with the 2024 presidential election, as the trial in this matter is scheduled to begin on March 4, 2024, the day before Super Tuesday and eight days before the Georgia presidential primary.

Additionally, the committee raised questions about the jurisdiction of the indictment, suggesting that it may be an attempt to use state criminal law to regulate the conduct of federal officers, which could infringe on their First Amendment rights.

In a social media post, Rep. Jim Jordan posed several key questions about the investigation, including whether Willis was working with Jack Smith, if she was communicating with the Executive Branch, and whether any federal funds were used in the investigation. The committee’s letter also raised concerns about the coordination between Willis’s office and the Department of Justice during the investigation and whether federal law enforcement agencies or officials were involved.

This investigation by the House Judiciary Committee is an important step in ensuring that the justice system remains fair and impartial. Willis’s actions raise serious questions about her motives and the potential political bias behind her indictment of President Trump. The timing of this prosecution, along with the questionable jurisdiction and coordination with federal agencies, only further fuels concerns about the integrity of this investigation. It is imperative that this matter be thoroughly investigated to uphold the principles of justice that our country holds dear.
