Jared Polis, the governor of Colorado, has been trying to alleviate the stress caused by the large number of migrants being released and processed in his state. He has been helping these individuals travel to other cities in the country.
According to Mayor Eric Adams of New York City, more people from Colorado are expected to arrive in the city.
If the state wasn't able to take the migrants after they were released by the Border Patrol, Colorado would have been providing them with funds to travel to other regions. However, due to the recent snowstorm and the technical issues of Southwest Airlines, their travel plans have been put on hold.
Over 30,000 people from the southern border have been arriving in New York City since last spring. This has caused a strain on the city's resources, which are usually allocated for American citizens.
Some of the 30,000 migrants were taken to New York City under the busing program of Texas Governor Greg Abbott. In a recent tweet, he noted that over 5,000 people had been taken to the Big Apple.
As of today, Texas has bused more than 16,500 migrants to sanctuary cities.
▪️ Over 9,100 to DC
▪️ Over 5,100 to NYC
▪️ Over 1,500 to Chicago
▪️ Over 840 to Philadelphia
We'll continue providing relief to overwhelmed border communities as Biden refuses to secure the border.
