NYU Protesters Harass NYPD Over Detained Activist

A big group of pro-Palestinian protesters at New York University was recorded by The New York Post in a video going after the New York City Police Department’s officers. The video, shared on Twitter, depicts the officers, led by Assistant Chief James McCarthy, being followed and surrounded by the protesters while they were at the NYU Catholic Center after detaining one protester.

In the video, the protesters were shouting “Free Palestine” and calling for the release of a female protester in custody. They could be heard chanting, “Let her go” and accusing the officers of kidnapping. The scene showed the protesters crowding around the police officers, including the high-ranking chief, as they tried to enter a building. Despite the commotion, the officers managed to leave the building with the detained person.

The officers in the video belong to the Strategic Response Group, a unit tasked with dealing with citywide emergencies and major events using specialized equipment and trained personnel. NYU has recently experienced confrontations between protesters and police, with videos showing arrests and the removal of activists’ tents after they refused to leave. Similar incidents have occurred at other universities, like Yale, where over 40 activists were arrested for trespassing following a protest that disrupted campus activities.

As a conservative writer, it is concerning to see protesters resorting to aggressive tactics against law enforcement officers. The police were simply carrying out their duties to maintain order and ensure the safety of everyone involved. It is important to respect the rule of law and allow authorities to handle situations without interference. Protests should be peaceful and respectful rather than confrontational and disruptive.
