Governor Chris Sununu of New Hampshire has a bold prediction for the 2024 presidential election: he believes there’s a greater than 50% chance that President Joe Biden won’t be on the Democratic ticket. Sununu shared his outlook during an appearance on Fox News, raising doubts about Biden’s potential re-nomination despite the overwhelming support he has within his own party.
Sununu speculated on two possible scenarios that could lead to Biden not being the Democratic nominee. One scenario involves Biden voluntarily stepping down before the nomination due to health reasons and appointing someone else as the candidate. The other scenario involves a prominent, self-funded Democrat emerging and defeating Biden in the primaries. Sununu dismissed the idea of any Democratic governors stepping forward, stating that they are likely hoping for a coronation by Biden next summer.

While Sununu declined to provide any names, he did express his support for several Republican candidates, including Nikki Haley, Chris Christie, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Will Hurd. However, he didn’t commit to endorsing anyone just yet, stating that they would have to earn his vote.
Interestingly, Sununu also predicted that former President Donald Trump, who is currently the frontrunner for the GOP nomination, will face challenges and potentially lose the nomination. He pointed out that Trump’s polling numbers in New Hampshire indicate a lack of support, with 60% of people either not wanting him or willing to consider other options.
It’s clear that Sununu has his finger on the pulse of the political landscape, and his prediction challenges the assumption that Biden is a shoo-in for the nomination. Whether or not his prediction comes true remains to be seen, but it’s safe to say that the 2024 election will bring plenty of surprises and uncertainty.
