The Daily Wire just reported that a new poll has revealed that most women are not interested in abortion and support limits that would have been unconstitutional under the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision. This is a gut punch for liberals who were banking on this being the primary issue to drive voters in November.
According to the poll, which was conducted by RMC Research and the APFI, inflation was more important to female respondents than abortion. Only 54% stated that abortion was very important in deciding their vote, while 74% stated that inflation was.
The results of the poll contradict a Democratic talking point, which claimed that overturning Roe would boost the party's chances in the November elections. It was also supported by pro-abortion voters.
Super PACs and campaigns of the Democratic Party have reportedly spent three times as much on messaging about abortion compared to the amount they spent during the 2018 midterm elections. They have also pushed the idea that female voters would revolt against new restrictions by backing Democrats in droves.
The poll found that crime and gun violence, education, economic issues, and health care were the most important issues that women considered to be very important when it came to influencing their votes. However, when it came to choosing an issue, abortion was more important than climate change, immigration, and the war in Ukraine.
Besides not seeing abortion as a top issue, most women also support restrictions that are opposed by the majority of Democratic leaders, and these would have been unconstitutional under the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision. Around 60% of women support a 15-week limit on abortion, while 45% would like to see a candidate who supports this restriction only when the life of a mother is at risk.
