Senator Rand Paul praised Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Wednesday for fighting against the government's censorship efforts. During an interview on CNBC, Paul referred to the criticism of Musk's statement about the New York Post's Hunter Biden laptop as election interference.
Paul stated that he was thankful for Elon Musk, who he said refused to take a guff from a reporter who told him that he could not speak his mind. He then explained that people started to believe that only certain types of speech were acceptable.
According to Paul, the wealth of Musk allowed him to acquire a social media platform and expose the inner workings of the government. He also stressed the distinction between private companies and governments when it comes to censorship.
Apart from lauding Musk, Paul criticized the Irish government's proposed hate speech legislation, which would allow authorities to criminally punish individuals for making hate speech. This legislation would also allow them to confiscate the materials that could incite discrimination.
