Once more, President Joe Biden is under scrutiny for contemplating a course of action that would cause Americans to wonder whether he is fantasizing about a world without borders. Biden suggested in a recent interview that he might possess the authority to close the southern frontier of the United States with Mexico to migrants unilaterally, without legislation intervening.

Everyone is currently wondering whether this is a prank. Either Biden has failed to remember that April Fool's Day has passed, or the polling on this subject has reached election-destroying proportions. The only issue is whether or not Biden is willing to entertain the notion in order to risk a tantrum from Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Furthermore, let's be honest with one another, people. Clearly, this is completely nonsensical. Biden is certainly capable of unilaterally closing the frontier. Restoring the wall and reauthorizing every executive order issued by former President Donald Trump would be sufficient to restore much-needed order to the situation. Since the funds have been appropriated, Congressional approval is not even necessary for the completion of the wall. Conversely, Biden appears to be preoccupied with self-inflicted paralysis and dithering due to his tendency to overanalyze the situation.
His track record further demonstrates that he will unilaterally and expeditiously reduce student loan debt but will not take effective action regarding illegal immigration. He would begin addressing this matter by selecting a new secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), if he were truly committed to doing so.
These developments are becoming increasingly difficult to take seriously, and it appears that Biden is more concerned with making a spectacle than with taking concrete steps to defend our borders. Biden will hopefully recognize that the border crisis is no laughing matter and begin placing the security and protection of Americans first.
