President Biden’s electric vehicle mandate has created quite the stir in the automotive industry and among consumers who are not on board with this Green New Deal nonsense. And if that wasn’t enough, a few states are actually considering joining California in their ridiculous plan to ban gas-powered vehicles altogether. Can you believe it?

Last year, the Environmental Protection Agency, probably under the influence of tree-hugging radicals, announced that by 2032, 70% of new cars and trucks sold cannot have tailpipe emissions. Of course, California just had to be the first to jump on this bandwagon, and now other states are thinking about following their lead. It’s like they’ve all gone loony!
According to Money, a personal finance website, states like Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Oregon, Washington, and Rhode Island are seriously discussing banning the sale of gas-powered vehicles by 2035. The District of Columbia has even committed to adopting this insane ban. Can you believe these states are actually considering this madness?
Even states like Delaware and Colorado are thinking about following California’s lead. They passed a mandate last year that would require EVs to make up 82% of car sales by 2032 but are not fully committed to the ban of 100% of gas-powered vehicles by 2035. It’s like they want to take baby steps towards their own destruction!
In California, EVs made up 21.3% of car sales in the first nine months of 2023, which was twice as much as the previous year. It’s also been reported that in San Jose, 40% of car registrations are for EVs. These numbers are shocking, but not in a good way!
After facing pushback from the automotive industry, Biden decided to ease up on the mandate, thankfully. He’s now giving manufacturers until after 2030 to increase EV sales. But that doesn’t mean everyone is suddenly jumping on the electric vehicle bandwagon. Some consumers are still hesitant, and for good reason! They’re worried about reliability, cost, and the lack of charging stations. Imagine that!
And as if things couldn’t get any more ludicrous, some Republican lawmakers in Louisiana are taking a stand against this nonsense. They proposed legislation to block the ban of gas-powered vehicles in the state. I mean, it’s about time someone stood up to this Green New Deal madness! Gov. Jeff Landry (R-LA) and 15 Republican lawmakers wrote a letter to Biden in January, absolutely blasting him for this mandate. Good for them!
It’s clear that not everyone is sold on Biden’s EV standards, and for good reason. Hopefully, more states will come to their senses and reject this ridiculous plan to ban gas-powered vehicles. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and our gas tanks full, folks!
