Border Crisis Worsens Under Biden as Illegal Crossings Hit Record High in April

In April, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) shared that there were 179,725 encounters with illegal aliens at the U.S.-Mexico border. While this number was a little lower than the previous month, it was still the 38th month in a row that the number of apprehensions was higher than during the highest month under former President Trump’s administration.

The Republican National Committee found that across the country, federal border agents caught 247,837 illegal aliens in the month of April. Importantly, these numbers did not include the growing quantity of “known gotaways,” which refers to individuals who enter the United States undetected.

House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green of Tennessee criticized the Biden administration, stressing that April’s numbers show that the crisis at the border is a result of their policies. Green emphasized that the Border Patrol agents, CBP officers, and AMO agents are still overwhelmed and overworked, while the American people desire a secure border.

Green also highlighted the significant increase in encounters at southwest border ports of entry, stating that there are historic levels of inadmissible aliens being released into the country. Furthermore, he noted that there has been a substantial surge of Chinese nationals crossing the border, particularly in California, with a 7,965-percent increase over the previous fiscal year.

These statistics continue to demonstrate the pressing need for stronger border security and immigration policies under the current administration.
