Washington, D.C. recently hosted an online training camp aimed at aiding undocumented immigrants in registering to vote in city elections, in accordance with new legislation extending voting rights to undocumented residents, including those who have resided in the district for just 30 days. Following the lead of a handful of other cities, D.C. has opted to expand voting privileges to illegal immigrants.
A PowerPoint presentation from the training camp, obtained by Judicial Watch via a Freedom of Information Act request, outlined the requirement of some form of government identification for registration. However, it's important to clarify that these undocumented migrants will only be permitted to participate in city contests, not federal elections, under the newly enacted law.

Despite staunch opposition from congressional Republicans, efforts to overturn the measure were unsuccessful. Tom Fitton, President of Judicial Watch, voiced disapproval, stressing that illegal aliens and noncitizens should not possess the right to vote in any elections. Fitton argued that allowing non-citizens to partake in the capital's elections could potentially dilute the votes of citizens and is unacceptable.
Notably, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki also expressed criticism, asserting that non-citizens are not eligible to vote, as it constitutes a violation of law. Psaki raised concerns regarding the motives behind the Republican legislative push, suggesting it could be aimed at undermining confidence in the nation's electoral system, particularly if the outcome does not align with the preferences of former President Donald Trump.
