On Wednesday, President Donald Trump visited East Palestine, Ohio after a train derailment had caused a chemical contamination in the small town. The media and Biden White House had largely ignored the crisis as locals dealt with the aftermath of the incident. In response to the tragedy, Trump personally dropped off tens of thousands of pounds of water, food, and other goods to the town. After his delivery, Trump decided to make a quick stop at a nearby McDonalds to hand out Big Macs and “Make America Great Again” hats to the workers.

The following day, Joy Behar, host of The View, made a controversial statement about the incident. She suggested that since the majority of citizens in East Palestine had voted for Trump, they got what they deserved. She said, “That’s who you voted for in that district! Donald Trump, who reduces all safety!!” She continued, “I blame Donald Trump!!!” Her comments were met with outrage from many people who believed that her statement was insensitive and inappropriate.

In response to Behar’s statement, many people took to social media to express their disapproval. They argued that it was wrong to blame the victims of the tragedy and that it was wrong to politicize such a devastating event. They also argued that it was wrong to suggest that people deserved to suffer because of their political beliefs.
The incident in East Palestine has sparked a debate about the politicization of tragedy. While some people believe that it is wrong to politicize tragedy, others believe that it is important to discuss how politics can affect people’s lives.
