A House Republican is taking a stand against the flood of illegal immigrants pouring into the United States, especially those who have committed crimes. Rep. Dan Bishop from the great state of North Carolina is on a mission to put a stop to the madness and expedite the deportation of these law-breaking individuals.
Bishop is firing up the legislative engines by reintroducing a bill that will give the Department of Homeland Security more power to request local and state authorities to detain illegal immigrants who have committed any crime. The bill will allow these individuals to be held for up to 48 hours, giving DHS the chance to take them into federal custody where they belong.

In a fiery statement, Bishop called out President Biden and his left-wing buddies for their “open borders, soft-on-crime agenda” that’s causing chaos and disorder across the nation. But fear not, because Bishop is here to save the day and combat the madness in Congress.
The bill, known as the Immigration Detainer Enforcement Act, aims to protect local law enforcement agencies from wrongful detention claims and compensate them if they are challenged over a detainer that is issued “without reason to believe the individual is a removable illegal immigrant.” And that’s not all – states and local authorities that play by the rules and comply with the DHS detainer requests will receive prioritized access to certain law enforcement-related grants and federal property. Cha-ching!
But wait, there’s more! Bishop is not stopping there. He’s also introducing another bill to give law enforcement even more power to do their jobs effectively. This legislation will increase data collection to combat attacks against law enforcement. It’s all part of the “Improving Law Enforcement Officer Safety and Wellness Through Data Act.” The bill will expand the categories for reporting attacks on police officers and ensure that mental health resources are available to support these brave men and women in uniform.
The reason for Bishop’s passionate crusade? Well, it’s all about protecting Americans from the rise in crime committed by illegal immigrants. He pointed to the tragic death of Laken Riley, a nursing student killed on the University of Georgia campus, as a prime example of why DHS detainer capabilities need to be beefed up. The suspect in her death was an immigrant who entered the country illegally and was later released. Bishop’s not having any of that nonsense.
Bishop is making it clear that he’s standing with law enforcement and upholding law and order. His bills, he says, will tackle two critical issues: the lack of comprehensive data on attacks against law enforcement and the tragedies that occur when sanctuary cities ignore ICE detainers and set violent illegal aliens free on the streets. It’s time to put an end to this madness, and Bishop is leading the charge with the force of a thousand eagles soaring across the amber waves of grain.
