Almost 59 percent of Democrats would prefer to see another candidate for the party's presidential nominee in 2024, with only 51 percent stating that they will definitely vote for Joe Biden. Only 28 percent said they would probably choose Biden.
If Biden were to become the party's nominee, 86 percent of Democrats would likely or support him in the presidential election of 2024.
The preference for another candidate among Democrats is a clear indication of the party's future succession issues.
Some of the potential candidates who are mentioned as a potential replacement for Biden include California Governor Gavin Newsom, Pete Buttigieg, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, and Bernie Sanders.
Biden's favorable rating is greater than that of the two main challengers to him. Only 11 percent of the public has an unfavorable view of him, while 84 percent of his supporters have a favorable opinion of him. On the other hand, 43 percent of California voters have a favorable view of Gavin Newsom, while only 9 percent have an unfavorable one.
Almost two-thirds of Democrats believe that Biden, the party's current leader, should be given another four years as the president. On the other hand, 28 percent of Democrats do not think that he should be given another term at the age of 82.
Over half of young people and those under 35 years old believe that Biden should be given another term. On the other hand, over 80 percent of Democrats believe that he should be given another four-year term.
The poll surveyed 1,208 Americans from December 1-7 with a 3.6 margin of error.
The results of the survey showed that almost half of Democrats do not want to see another Biden campaign. This is two points less than the CNN poll.
