Although Donalds initially supported McCarthy, he eventually withdrew his support after it became clear that he didn't have the necessary votes.
Trump called several Republican congressmen, including Andy Biggs and Matt Gaetz, late Friday night. They both opposed McCarthy's election as the new speaker.
