The Supreme Court rejected the appeal of the College of the Ozarks, which maintained that its religious beliefs should not be violated by a government agency's directive to add "gender identity" to the 1968 housing law.
The college of the Ozarks follows a religious principle when it comes to assigning its dorms, private rooms, and roommates based on sex, as it teaches that sex should be based on the biological characteristics of men and women. However, the courts ruled that the institution could not sue the Department of Housing and Urban Development because it was not enforcing the housing act.
The 8th Circuit's ruling put the college in a difficult situation. It could either violate its religious beliefs or face significant penalties. The college is hoping that the related cases involving the Biden administration's overreach and attempts to remove gender distinctions will be taken up soon.
The Obama administration's decision to add the term "gender identity" as a part of the housing law was based on a Supreme Court decision in Bostock vs. Clayton County. According to the Biden administration, the inclusion of this term does not require the institution or other housing providers to do anything. However, it could be used by transgender activists to force the college to follow their demands.

Despite the lack of a legal target, the LGBT community still plans on using the college as a bully. They are targeting Christian organizations in order to force them to follow their new regulations. In 2018, a case involving the Masterpiece Cakeshop was cited as an example of how a ruling often goes against the activists.
Despite the various challenges that the LGBT community faces, it is still expected to continue fighting against the Christian beliefs regarding sex and gender.
