Hold onto your life jackets, folks, because the news just keeps getting grimmer. In a press release that hit the waves today, the US Coast Guard revealed that they have recovered “presumed human remains” from the wreckage of the ill-fated Titan submersible. It’s like something out of a horror movie, except it’s all too real.

Now, you may be wondering, what on earth was this tiny vessel doing? Well, hold onto your caps, because they were actually headed to the century-old wreckage of the Titanic itself. Talk about tempting fate! But fate, it seems, had other plans. The Titan didn’t even stand a chance, ending up as nothing more than minivan-sized debris at the bottom of the North Atlantic.

It’s a tragedy that defies belief, claiming the lives of all five brave men on board. Our hearts go out to their families for the incredible loss they have endured. The Marine Board of Investigation (MBI) is leading the charge, working hand in hand with international partners to transport the recovered evidence back to the United States. Seems like they don’t trust anyone else to handle this hot mess.
The evidence they’ve managed to salvage, including those poor presumed human remains, will be scrutinized by American medical professionals. Now, call me old-fashioned, but don’t we have enough on our plates already without having to analyze icky stuff? It’s like a scene straight out of a crime show, only without the cool music and fancy technology.
Captain Jason Neubauer, Chair of the MBI, expressed his gratitude for the international and interagency support that made this whole circus possible. He also acknowledged the immense challenges faced during the recovery mission. I mean, have you seen the depths and distances they had to deal with? It’s like trying to find a needle in a haystack, except the haystack is the ocean. Good luck with that!
But let’s not lose sight of the bigger picture here, folks. The aim of this investigation is not just to satisfy our morbid curiosity about what went wrong.
